Mercury Retrograde in Gemini and Mindfulness

Mercury Retrograde in Gemini and Mindfulness

I run a free group on Facebook where the members are able to express themselves and ask questions in a less public space. Louise Edington’s Cosmic Connections (please join us if you are not already a member) is an active community and I get some quite deep questions in there. As we wane to the New Moon in Taurus and Mercury stations to turn retrograde in Gemini a member posted the following. “When have we not been asked to slow down and do inner work, really? I am finding that starting to cause me turmoil as I have daily work to accomplish and now I am battling my mind to be productive and do my inner work. We can’t stop tasks that drive our businesses, so help us recognize what’s a balance of slow down and still not close our doors. I am truly battling how to shift from slowing down and dealing with inner to the pace needed to consistently move forward in business. We are such complex beings and I am feeling overwhelmed with fact I’d like to work on ONE at a time.”   Of course this sparked my own inner review process and this blog post was birthed. What IS the message of this retrograde period? I have had my usual Mercury Retrograde rant about working with the energies and not fearing it in my Mercury Retrograde in Gemini post. I also say that life can’t stop for something that happens 3 and sometimes 4 times a year. No, we can’t stop doing the tasks that drives our businesses and lives. That would just be...
Hard Astrology Aspects: You Choose How To Respond!

Hard Astrology Aspects: You Choose How To Respond!

I sometimes feel that I am a little Pollyanna like with Astrology compared to others. My general optimism comes partly from four planets in Sagittarius but I DO have plenty in my chart to dampen that and I DO have my ‘bad’ days. But my belief is that it’s all about how we respond and react to the energies. I have been through enough had aspects in my life to KNOW that things get tough. But I also know that nothing lasts and we get to choose whether to sink into despair or to look at the bleak side. Pluto brings death and transformation of all kinds and Uranus brings revolution and sudden shocks and change. These two are the slowest of planets and, therefore, some people are lucky enough not to have too many of these transits, especially the conjunctions (where the planet crosses the same point that a planet in your birth chart is at). But, because of the make up of my chart, I have had BOTH planets cross almost every planet and luminary (Sun/Moon) in my chart. So I get it. I have been through almost every hard aspect possible in my 55 years. I lost my Dad and gave birth to my eldest daughter under my Pluto square aspect. I went through the deepest depression of my life as Pluto crossed my Ascendant and my Saturn (they are very close together) but I also went through the time of greatest growth as I faced the lessons Pluto was asking me to. On both occasions! And the aspects to my own chart in mid 1989...

Mercury Retrograde in Gemini

Mercury Retrograde I barely dare utter those words as I expect the moans and groans to start. We entered the ‘shadow’ yesterday as Mercury reached 4° 33′ of Gemini which is the degree that Mercury will return to during the retrograde period. Not that the planet actually turns backwards, this is apparant backward motion from our perspective. The trickster actually stations to turn retrograde on the 18th and 19th May right after the next New Moon. I shall be talking about this on my New Moon Intention Call on Friday May 8. If you would like to join me please register here for call details and to receive the recording. The first thing I want to say is DO NOT BE AFRAID! All the planets go retrograde and Mercury goes retrograde three (and occasionally four) times a year. It’s a phenomenom to work with rather than resist and fear. It has a purpose. Mercury rules communication, motion, activity, cars/transportation and mechanics, the internet, information, contracts, writing and speaking. And siblings. All of these areas are up for review, reflection, redoing, re-organizing and rethinking. And in Gemini, which Mercury rules, this is likely to be powerful. And I mean that in a positive way! Use this time to look at things a little differently and it’s highly likely that you will receive some important inner revelations. It’s a time of heightened mental awareness, a time to go within and rethink a few things. It’s not the time to communicate the revelations outwardly perhaps, as communications are clouded. Things may be misheard. By both you and others. Slow down and pay attention...
An Imperfect Greenie: Lilith For Earth Day!

An Imperfect Greenie: Lilith For Earth Day!

I’m a greenie at heart. I recycle. I use green cleaning products. I try to plant native plants that don’t use too much water here in the High Desert. I would like to install solar panels. I am planning on buying a water butt and collecting rain water. We paid money to well insulate our home. I buy mostly organic. I try to be kind to the earth. And I am a humanitarian, a supporter of equality and a healer. But I am not perfect. I could do more. My one extra act so far for this Earth Day is to order some free seeds to plant wildflowers that bees love. I would post the link so you could also order but unfortunately the promotion has ended. But there are several suggestions on this page of the Earth Day site. Or you could donate or sign up as a volunteer activist. I am considering it. But this post is not about beating myself up for not doing enough. This post is about how the astrology is pulling us to do more. And about the Dalai Lama. And his, now famous, quote. “The World Will Be Saved By the Western Woman” And the slogan for Earth Day 2015 “It’s Our Turn To Lead” And why the astrology points to this call. It’s Our Turn To Lead. Firstly, I do understand that what the Dalai Lama meant by ‘western woman’ has not been quantified. And this in itself is the subject of some debate! But I just don’t want to go down that rabbit hole today. Let’s just say, for the sake...
Aries New Moon: Set Your World On Fire

Aries New Moon: Set Your World On Fire

On Saturday April 18 at 2.57 pm EST (11.57 am PDT, 12.57 pm MDT, 7.57 pm GMT and early on the 19th in Australia) we have a New Moon in Aries at 28 deg 25′ Aries. So close to that last and critical degree of Aries. This New Moon has a flavor of Taurus also. This New Moon is a loner. A beginning. Asking you where you are going to set your world on fire. Where you are going to step up and initiate. Where are you going to BEcome the I and move forward. Aries is warrior energy. It’s time to embrace your inner warrior. Aries is clarity and striving. It’s time to make clear goals and move to make them manifest when the Sun moves into Taurus on April 20th. Incidentally, Louise means warrior maiden, and this New Moon aspects my asteroid Hygeia, the Goddess of wholistic healing. How interesting as we move to wholistically heal my daughter and, thereby, our whole family. Over the last few months and years we have been transformed. We have been asked to look at where we are unique, where we are going to shine and what our connection is with the collective. We have been asked what our place is in all this. Now it’s time to start. On the first New Moon of the Astrological New Year in the first sign of the zodiac. Unhampered by aspects to other Cosmic bodies. Who is the new you? We have been squeezed and changed. Pushed to grow and evolve. Not that we are ever done. But we are coming out of...
