Healers Boundaries!

Healers Boundaries!

I love to help people. I am one of those people who others always come to for help. People tell me their deepest, darkest thoughts and feelings and I get them. I understand them and know how to listen deeply and to give compassionate mentoring without telling people what to do.   I even have a Psychotherapist friend who comes to me for mentoring, advice and to offload.   The questions of boundaries can get difficult because I work deeply with my clients. When I work with their charts I see into their soul (all completely confidential of course!) and I get to know them intimately. I am, therefore, seen as a close confidante and friend. But this is my business.   My work as an Intuitive Astrological Mentor means that I am increasingly finding that my empathic skills and need to help people lead to boundary crossing and burn out in my business and two very clear instances today prompted me to write this post. One a blog post on burn out by my mentor Leonie Dawson (you can read it here) and a few ‘quick questions’ from people I had worked with in the past.   I’m sure many of you that are in similar professions will relate. And I KNOW that people don’t mean to cross boundaries. The fault is entirely mine. Because I want to help people and I want them to feel better! The fault is mine because my boundaries are not clear and I find it hard to say no. BUT, I get burned out if I don’t have boundaries.   So here...

My 2014 Theme Words

I don’t do New Years Resolutions and don’t even really do intentions generally. I did set intentions this year because a New Moon in Capricorn happened to be on New Years Morning and I always set New Moon intentions.   I do, however, quite like the idea of a word for the year. I have a Gemini moon and several other mutable planets in my chart which means I like variety. So one word just isn’t enough. So I have chosen THREE words for the coming year. Yes, yes I am greedy I know.   So here are my words: Fun This year and beyond I tend to have fun in everything I do. I tend to get a bit serious at times as I have Capricorn rising with Saturn (the ruler of Capricorn) - I think work has to be hard (even though my head knows that’s not the  case. I mean to laugh a lot, skip around the house (not with a rope) and just make things fun. And if something really just isn’t fun I intend to give it up or outsource! Life should be fun not just happy. So fun it is! Focus Maybe this seems like the opposite of fun? Not for me! For the same reason that I could not choose one word I tend to be VERY easily distracted. That cannot happen this year. I have a lot of things planned that are fun for me. I plan to write and publish my Kindle eBook Series “Your Happiness Toolbox”, grow my business massively (I have launched my first very affordable group program...

The Age Of The Crone

The Crone is also an archetypal figure, a Wise Woman. She is marginalized by her exclusion from the reproductive cycle,[1] and her proximity to death places her in contact with occult wisdom. As a character type, the crone shares characteristics with the hag.~ Wikipedia Aging. It happens to us all. Women all inevitably move into the age of the Crone.   We’re born, we grow, we learn, we teach, we shrink, we die.   It’s a part of the human experience.   As a woman we move into the age of the Crone as we pass through menopause. Our body changes, our mind changes. It’s a major life shift. For me it has also been a major spiritual shift.   Under the Patriarchy the age of the Crone has for too long been marginalized. Often portrayed as malicious or sinister.   In Wicca she symbolizes ‘the Dark Goddess, the dark of the moon, the end of a cycle’ and in some ‘New Age’ circles this is portrayed as a time of freedom, wisdom and personal power. (Wikipedia). And we all have her within us, men and women.   I’m 53. Very much in Menopause. My cycles have ended and my reproductive years have gone. I now not only feel my body changing I also feel my soul and spirit changing. And the messages I am receiving are to embrace and to celebrate this time.   In an astrological reading from a mentor I am reminded to become the elder and to teach the wisdom I have gleaned. In a dream I buried my child self, although I was actually...

Mercury Retrograde and First World Problems

Yes, yes, yes we are in the shadow of Mercury Retrograde and in Scorpio this one will be a deep one. Plus Mercury will meet Saturn three times in Scorpio because of the retrograde adding to the intensity. The actual retrograde is from the 21st October until 10th November. The shadow will last until 27th November.   There’s so much jazz these days days about Mercury Retrograde and yes, I did write a blog post where I jokingly talked about a couple of incident full road trips during Mercury Retrogrades this year in a post called Mercury Retrograde and Travel. The post was meant to be a bit of fun.   It’s true that communications can go awry, computer files can disappear, reservations can be wrong and communications in general can be, well, miscommunications. Plus this one is in Scorpio where communications are already swimming in deep waters.   However, I strongly believe that we should not fear ANY astrological transits. They all have their shadow side AND their shiny side.   Please do be AWARE and back up your computers, triple check contracts and reservations, get your car serviced and make sure your AAA membership is up to date and then carry on living. All the things that people fear really are first world problems. And what you fear expands right?  Instead of living in fear do your diligence and then carry on living.   In fact why not choose to harness the positive side of this retrograde?   Any Mercury retrograde is a great time to review, reflect, release and redo. This time in Scorpio we are...

Harnessing Cosmic Energies or Doom and Gloom?

I was inspired to talk about my approach to astrology. Many see astrology as doom and gloom and that many follow their ‘stars’ like puppets. They believe that if the stars say it’s going to be a bad day then it will be. I prefer to talk about harnessing energies. This topic first formed in my mind after the reaction to my last blog post Travel and Mercury Retrograde: Who Thought That Was A Good Idea. So many people seemed sorry for me!! Either I’m really not very funny or I painted a bleak picture. So I would like to expand. I looked upon the things that happened on my trip as yes, a manifestion of the retrograde, but also as a sign that I was not working with the energies. I was not reflecting and reviewing certain areas of my life. Non of the incidents were REALLY bad. I just thought they made a good and funny story. I got my message from it all, learned an astrological lesson and made lemonade out of it by writing a funny blog post. What I believe is that there is a yin and yang to everything. A shine and shadow, a high road and low road. ‘Fortunate’ aspects also have a negative side and ‘challenging’ aspects have a positive. Nothing is wholly good or bad. We are all energy, the universe is sacred geometry and we contain it all. We are universal energy and that sacred geometry flows in and through us. As above, so below, as within, so without. For example we are in the midst of ‘fortunate’ aspects...
